Frequently Asked Questions

What Kind of Events are We Talking About?

Just like at a normal game convention:
  • 2-hour slots for board games, or 4-hour slot for RPGs or tournaments
  • RPG's have pre-generated chrs provided
  • all competitive games have prizes (actually, you win entries into Sunday's raffle)
  • other events as provided for by organizers (yoga, etc.)

What Kind of Prizes will be Awarded?

Unlike previous years, we will not be having a grand giveaway on the last day. Instead, any prizes or awards for an event will be given away upon completion. Add a comment

What Events are Scheduled?

That's where you come in! We only run events that are requested and sponsored, so get busy! =)

In the past people enjoyed board games, strategy games, role playing games and the like. But there are also usually some non-gaming activities like the women's spa day, a wine tasting competition, a cook-off, yoga, and even a robotics demonstration! See our partial list of games in the BobCon games library to get an idea.

What does Sponsoring an event mean?

Do you have an idea for an event that you want to run? Have an old module lying around which you'd like to take a group of adventurers through? Sponsoring an event simply means you take the responsibility to run the event, bring the materials needed, and provide any additional prizes you may want to give out. This option is especially important for RPGs, as BobCon does not have a pool of GMs or modules from which to choose. Add a comment

What About My Kids?

BobCon is kid-friendly. Kids will be housed in the big basement room which leads directly outside to a area suited for children (should the weather permit). This year we plan to have continuous supervision by asking parents to take a turn watching the children. Babysitters and substitutions are welcome – in fact, if you know of a reliable babysitter who might want to earn some extra money please find out their fees and availability and let the BobCon staff know. Can You Fill Each Slot Every Day?

Obviously, not everyone would participate in every slot; some folks have lives outside gaming on the weekends, some folks have jobs that prevent a full-weekend attendance, some folks are coming from out-of-town, and some folks just don't want round-the-clock company all weekend long. Regardless, we're betting there will be enough folks around at any given time to keep the place hopping. Add a comment

Damn, That's a Heck of a Drive For Me! Do You Really Expect Me to Come All That Way?

We know that several of the folks invited are from out of state. We don't really expect them all to come, but it's important to us for them to know they're welcome. Plus, they certainly won't come if we don't invite them! Add a comment
