Axis and Allies 50th Anniversary Edition
Axis & Allies celebrates 50 years of Avalon Hill games with this Anniversary Edition of the classic World War II strategy board game. Designed by Larry Harris, A&A Anniversary Edition utilizes the standard D6 combat system found in Axis & Allies Revised, Europe, and Pacific, and contains two different set-up options. Italy will debut as the third Axis nation, China will be operated by the U.S. player, and cruiser class ships will join the naval line-up for the first time. The largest board ever produced for an A&A game (24' x 46'), along with new sculpts and deluxe components will ensure this is the granddaddy of all Axis & Allies board games. Deploy your forces and prepare for battle! Additional info and commentary on this book are available at Amazon, Wikipedia, and Board Game Geek. An Amazon reviewer wrote: "For people who are unfamiliar with the game, Axis and Allies is a board game recreating World War II on a grand strategic level. Armies, fleets, and air armadas are represented abstractly by wonderful plastic pieces (battleships, tanks, soldiers, etc.). Movement is by area and combat is resolved in a simple yet satisfying system. Research and industrial production are key parts of game play. It was a huge hit when first introduced and spawned variants and a Revised version a few years ago." The game is still in its original factory brown cardboard shipping container, with the unopened game inside. Remember, the proceeds from these auctions go to fund BobCon. Temple of Elemental Evil (Game for Windows)
The game focuses on a party of up to five player-controlled characters. These characters can be created by the player or can be one of the pre-made characters that come with the game. All, however, must be within one step of a party alignment. Any player-made characters are created in a 13-step process. At any time, the party can have up to three NPC followers, and all player characters can have a familiar and/or animal companion as allowed by class. Temple was mostly well received by critics. PC Gamer gave the game a 79%, saying "Greyhawk is a game by D&D fans and for D&D fans, and it provides all RPG fans with the opportunity to experience one of the genre's classic adventures." Gamespot echoed those sentiments; it gave the game a 7.9 out of 10, calling the game "one of the most authentic PC Dungeons & Dragons experiences of the past few years." Taluva is a wonderful abstract tile-laying game with an adequately supportive theme. Players presumably take on the roles of gods or tribal chieftains on an isolated volcanic island. The island grows through ever-constant eruptions, while the players seek to lead their chosen people to grow in numbers and influence. The game ends either when all tiles are placed or when one player manages to use all of two different kinds of their pieces. An Amazon reviewer wrote: "My husband and I love this game... we even purchased it as a gift for friends. 2-4 players and lots of fun. It does have small pieces so watch out for little ones. I would totally reccomend this game." Remember, the proceeds from these auctions go to fund BobCon. The more we make the more BobCon we can provide. The object of the game in Key Harvest is to score the most points. Players score points by placing tiles on their own country board. Each player has the same board, but there is only one of each tile, so there is competition when two players want the same tile. One point is scored for each field tile in the player’s largest group of connected field tiles and two points for each tile in their second largest connected group. They I read the rules and it pulled me in like quicksand." Remember, the proceeds from these auctions go to fund BobCon. The more we make the more BobCon we can provide. Planetary is an organization billing themselves as "Archaeologists of the Impossible", tracking down the world's secret history. Funded by the mysterious Fourth Man, who it is said could be anyone from Bill Gates to Adolf Hitler, the field team consists of three superhumans: Jakita Wagner, who is strong, fast and nearly invulnerable; The Drummer, who can detect and manipulate nearby information streams, most commonly used to manipulate computers and other electronics; the new recruit Elijah Snow, who can extract heat from nearby substances at will, freezing them; and the former third man Ambrose Chase, who has a "selective physics-distortion field". The south sea, AD 1777! Three years after James Cook visited the islands, the islands are embroiled in a contest for possession of legendary shrunken heads. The players' only desire is to acquire these ''head attractions'' for shipment to museums in Europe. Although the islanders are very interested in trading their treasures with the European for the glass beads they offer, their traditions require that such exchanges be done during a special KAWA ritual. Thus, the players must submit to this ritual by playing against each other with their beads for the prized shrunken heads. The winner will leave the island with the treasure. The losers may remain to provide further treasures... From Spielbox: Fiji is a 'super auction game' in which the players offer natives gemstones in exchange for shrunken heads. The offer is compared with four positions which allow new gemstones to be obtained. After four rounds of bidding, the amounts of gemstones that the players own are compared and heads are awarded. After four rounds, the game is over and the player with the most shrunken heads crowned the winner. Remember, the proceeds from these auctions go to fund BobCon.
